Broad
details of the event are in the Motafrenz newsletter or web site
here.
STOP PRESS: now only $10 per person!
Here are a few
finer points. Note that there is a location map in the gallery.
The cars are 1:32
scale (approx 5 inches/13cm long) early 1970s prototype Le Mans sports cars such as Porsche
917K, Ford GT 40 and Porsche Carrera 906. Thrown in for good
measure is the raw American Chaparral.
Each lane of that track is colour-coded,
as is each car, which makes returning crashed cars a breeze.
A computer keeps a record of how many laps each
competitor completes over a series of races and the competitor who completes the most
laps, in total from all the races, is the winner.
We don't race for sheep stations, just for
relaxation and a bit of fun.
Apart from Motafrenz events, there are potential options for
more regular racing if you are willing
to make the commitment of buying your own cars. Ged conducts 1:32 scale racing once a
week and the larger 1:24 scale 'vintage style' races once a month.
Below are photos of the 1:24 scale race night
cars, all grouped together for a 'photo opportunity' prior to
racing commencing. |
